We believe in the role of Elders according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7, understanding the terms elder, pastor and overseer to represent the same role as ministers called by God to shepherd the church under Christ. Our church has a plurality of elders, mixing vocational and lay elders. Each of our elders is trained, tested and approved by the body according to these qualifications.

Jon Ballard
Senior PASTOR
Jon, Christina and their family of 6 moved here January 2018 to serve with Connection Church. The Ballard's grew up in the Carolinas with a love for the ocean. They have served at churches in Florida and Tennessee and now are far away from the ocean; however, they believe they are right where God has called them. They love sharing Jesus with people and have fallen in love with Spearfish and the Black Hills.
You might find the Ballard family out hiking, biking or exploring the Hills. They have 2 sons and 2 daughters. Seth, Kayla, Meghan and Josh.

KALEB CARLIN
WORSHIP & DISCIPLESHIP PASTOR
Kaleb and Jessica were called to Spearfish Connection in July of 2016. They have been married 5 years and love their baby boy Theo who is just over a year old. When they aren't out in the Hills trying biking, hiking or star-gazing, you might find them in their home by the college sharing a meal, inviting you into the back yard with their dog Po and talking about God's amazing faithfulness!
Kaleb is full time at the church, enjoys mountain biking and the occasional DIY project. Jessica is now a stay at home mom with Theo, but thrives in discipling young women.

Cory and Olyn, with baby girl Harper, have just started with our church this February of 2021. We are excited to see how God will use them to reach the children and youth in our church and community!
